However surprising it might seem, almost 6 decades have passed since the release of «The Young Girls of Rochefort» starred by this iconic French actress and her older sister. It became the last film that the siblings played together in which brought them global fame and recognition.

It was the 1957 movie «The Twilight Girls» where she made her debut appearance. However, her role in «The Umbrellas of Cherbourg» became her breakthrough one which brought her stardom marking the beginning of her drizzling career.

Sadly enough, it was shortly after the filming of «The Young Girls of Rochefort» that her sister passed away after a tragic car accident.

«The day I lost my sister, I lost my joy of living.. it is the most painful thing I have experienced».

Dubbed as the «Face of the French Cinema», her role in the industry could never be overestimated. The films she starred were mostly French and only a few of them were in the English language among which are «Hustle» and «The Hunger».

It was for her role in «Indochine» for which she deservedly received an Oscar nomination and a Cesar Award. Deneuve is going to celebrate her 80th birthday which is something hard to believe considering her timeless beauty, grace and elegance.
