Here’s a fantastic reason to buy a dog he might one day rescue the owners.
James White was fishing near the shore in Sonoma County, California when he felt a strong pull on the line. He spent about 10 minutes trying to turn the line but regretted it.
At the other end were seven 6 foot sharks. James went to unhook the shark, but instead the animal twisted and fell to the ground before sinking its teeth into James’ ankle.
“Immediately there was blood everywhere, the first bite pierced an artery. The stress was extreme,” White said.
White called for help, and luckily someone heard him. His one-year-old pit bull, Darby, is waiting in a parked car a few yards away.
Hearing his man’s cries for help, Darby somehow managed to open the car doors. He rushed to James to save the day.
At first, Darby bit the shark’s gills, but this had unintended consequences and the shark bit even harder.
James then threw the shark back into the water and it swam away.
According to him, if not for Darby, he would certainly have been in a much worse condition, since the shark could potentially cut the artery.
Needless to say, Darby is now a family hero.
