Affectionate dog disrupted a football match and was adopted by a player.
Normally, football matches are all about athletes performing tricks with the ball and working as a team to win, but the dog that crashed the match caught everyone’s attention. The stranger stole the show at the Hernando Siles Stadium in La Paz, Bolivia during a football match between The Strongest and Nacional de Potos. A stray dog walked up to the playground and made a lot of noise because he had a basketball in his mouth that he stole from a substitute.
The dog, named Cachito, obviously wanted to show the players the treasure of the sport, but the players tried not to be distracted from the game. A football match is interrupted by a dog. However, the dog soon went unnoticed as its wanderings on the ground, eluding the referees and players, caused the match to be cancelled. The dog, delighted with the attention shown to him, preferred to lie down on the ground and began to gnaw his boot with enthusiasm.
The game’s commentators had to mention how adorable the puppy was and he became the star of the game within minutes. Cachito definitely had his moments of glory and didn’t want to ruin them; instead, he wanted to share his happiness with everyone.
When the other players tried to grab Cachito, the dog rolled onto the ground and received many hugs. Cachito then allowed Ral Castro, a local team player, to pick him up and take him off the field so play could resume.
The charming puppy not only won the hearts of football fans, but also became a talisman for the home team. As The Strongest won the Christmas Eve game 3-1. Both Cachito and the audience were pleased with the result.
No one knew what happened to the overnight star until a post about the affectionate puppy appeared on social media a few days later. Cachito was found in the city center, beaten and in very bad shape after being hit by a car. The guy who spotted him posted on Facebook that he needed help and they were quick to respond.
Myra, a rescue worker at the Ni Una Patita Menos Animal Shelter, arrived at the scene and took the puppy to the shelter for treatment.
Myra told El Potosí: “We have noticed this man’s message. When we arrived, the young man who sent the message told us that he had seen him hit, and as a result, he threw himself on the ground. He is currently dormant. We need the help of a veterinarian.
Fortunately, another player from The Strongest team noticed Cachito’s post on Facebook and decided to share it in order to find him a home.
Ral Castro, the player who sent Cachito off the field, learned the tragic news. The man, without hesitation, turned to the shelter and helped the dog; he also paid all the vet bills and decided to adopt her.
Cachito not only took away a few minutes of fame from a football match, but also stole the heart of his beloved savior, becoming a champion.
