The bond between a child and a dog is simply captivating.
In October, two-year-old Branson Figueroa required skull reconstruction surgery due to a rare craniosynostosis. This happens when a child’s skull closes before the brain has fully developed.
Fortunately, the surgical treatment was successful, and Brandon also recovered quickly, although his case is 1 case in 50,000.
The Figueroa family, based in Nottingham, New Hampshire, celebrated the occasion by adopting a young Boston Terrier puppy named Thanos into their home.
Branson and Thanos bonded instantly and quickly became friends as well.
But family members soon realized that something was wrong with Thanos. They took him to their vet, who examined Thanos and also suggested that he might have hydrocephalus, a kind of fluid buildup that can cause brain damage.
Much more testing is needed to see the severity of Thanos’ problem, but veterinarians believe he may need life-saving surgery to install a shunt in his skull.
These examinations, therapy, and also surgical treatment are extremely comparable to what his little self had to go through.
“I think God puts everything into our lives for a reason”, Branson’s mom told WMUR. “There’s a possibility that he got into something and our son will have to go through it too, you know? It just didn’t happen”.
