The incredible story of this woman never ceases to captivate millions all over the world. It shows that one’s resilience and strong will-power can decide everything and age is just a number when one aims at changing their life to the roots and start everything from scratch.

This creative-minded woman has worked as an artist her entire life. When she was already a pensioner, she started selling her paintings and earning her living. However, everything changed in the 2000s when Hilkka was already in her 50s. She was sick and tired of everything and determined to build herself aa completely new life.

Her choice fell on an abandoned mill which had been left neglected since the 1920s. Its initial condition left a lot to be desired but this didn’t stop her. In order to save enough money for its renovation, Hilkka sold all her paintings, car as well as apartment.

Now, Hilkka is already in her 70s and no one will deny that she lives a dream life as a single pensioner woman. Most importantly, her cherished dream came true and now she has found true happiness and harmony with herself. It is a stunning two-storey building now.

The first floor is more like an art gallery, and with the second one opens the real house. It is worth mentioning that not only hired builders and workers put effort, but also volunteers and even passers-by poured sweat into its reconstruction.
