He’s 25 But Still Carried by His Mother — The Remarkable Story of a Man Who Stopped Growing at Five

In the city of Jhansi, located in Uttar Pradesh, India, lives Ravi Kumar — a 25-year-old man whose small size defies belief. Standing just 24 inches tall and weighing only 7 kilograms, Ravi never grew beyond the size of a toddler. His rare condition has drawn attention, not just for its medical mystery but for the deep bond he shares with his mother.

Ravi is believed to be among the smallest fully grown adults in India. Despite being in his mid-twenties, his stature resembles that of a one-year-old child. His mother continues to care for him in every way — carrying him in her arms, feeding him, and tending to his every need, just as she did when he was a baby.

His condition first became noticeable around age five, when his physical development came to a halt. Concerned, his mother brought him to doctors, hoping for answers. Eventually, they discovered that Ravi was suffering from a thyroid-related disorder, which had drastically impacted his growth.

“We went to several hospitals,” his mother recalls. “The doctors told us it was a thyroid issue. They said treatment was possible — but we simply didn’t have the money.”

Ravi’s condition is a form of growth disorder commonly associated with hormonal or genetic causes. Known medically as dwarfism, the condition can vary widely in its effects, but in Ravi’s case, it resulted in a height that is extremely rare even among others with similar diagnoses.

For comparison, the shortest person ever recorded was Chandra Bahadur Dangi of Nepal, who measured just 54.6 centimeters tall.

Although Ravi’s physical development was affected, his spirit remains strong. Like many others living with dwarfism, he has dreams, hopes, and a full range of human emotions. While his mother remains his closest support system, Ravi continues to be a symbol of resilience and love — a reminder that life’s worth is not measured in inches or pounds.
