Leonardo DiCaprio has finally revealed the real reason he often hides his face in public and avoids big celebrity events. The 51-year-old actor, who became an international icon after Titanic, is frequently photographed outdoors with his cap pulled low or his face partly covered — and fans have long wondered why he keeps such a low profile.
In a recent interview with Time, DiCaprio admitted that his absence from red carpets and award shows is completely intentional. According to him, staying out of the spotlight is his way of keeping the public from getting tired of him.

“It’s a balance I’ve tried to maintain my entire career — and I still haven’t mastered it,” he said. “My personal rule is simple: appear only when you truly have something to contribute. Otherwise, disappear from public view as much as possible.”

After the explosive fame he experienced with Titanic in 1997, DiCaprio realized he needed a long-term strategy to keep his career alive without burning out.

“I asked myself, ‘How do I do this for decades?’” he explained. “I love acting, but the only way to last is to avoid being everywhere, all the time. People shouldn’t see your face more than your work.”
DiCaprio has also remained famously private about his personal life. His current relationship with 27-year-old model Vittoria Ceretti is rarely discussed publicly, despite the couple being spotted together several times this year.

In August, paparazzi photographed them enjoying a yacht vacation in the Mediterranean, and reports claim the two have been serious since 2023 — but DiCaprio himself refuses to comment.
For him, privacy isn’t a luxury — it’s a survival strategy.
