I found these little slippery balls in an egg and at first thought they were insect eggs — but then I discovered the terrible truth

Today, as usual, we went to the local supermarket where we almost always buy food for the whole family. The shop is reliable, everything is always fresh, and we’ve never had any complaints about it before.

This time we bought a dozen eggs — they looked completely normal. At home, I started making breakfast, cracked a few eggs, and suddenly noticed something strange inside.

Small smooth balls, like pieces of mucus. I was shocked — my first thought was: could these be insect larvae or eggs? I quickly went online to find out what it could be and was shocked.

Fortunately, I saw it in time, and we hadn’t eaten anything yet. Just looking at it was unpleasant, let alone imagining eating it. My husband suggested going to the shop right away and demanding a refund, but I wanted to find out if anyone else had encountered this first.

We read reviews and advice on the internet and learned that these are calcium deposits that contribute to the formation of the shell.

Sometimes they appear inside the egg due to the hen’s diet or a metabolic disorder in the bird. It looks alarming, but it is actually completely harmless if there are no signs of infection.

To be honest, this doesn’t make the eggs any more appetising, but at least now we know that they are not parasites and nothing deadly. In future, we will check the eggs more carefully before buying them and will probably change brands. Even if such inclusions are safe, they do not particularly whet the appetite.
