A woman named Joanna Ann Ussery came up with an interesting idea when, after a snowstorm, she realized that she had nowhere to live, and decided to buy an old plane for little money. So, she bought a Boeing 727 airliner in 1994 for $2,000.
She didn’t have a lot of money for even the simplest apartment, and her son-in-law came for help and offered to buy a plane. He suggested that the woman buy an old Boeing, which was the most convenient option. The woman created a home out of the liner and said that she refurbished the inside, including installing water supply and heating.
The bathroom was made from an airplane toilet, and she used the luggage compartments for storage. The plane has a jacuzzi, a kitchen with an oven and a dishwasher. The nose of the plane remained above the lake and she was able to feel herself in flight.
It took several years to reconstruct the liner. «My plane is the best home. It has everything that people want in their home», said the owner. She lived here for 4 years and now it is open to tourists.
