Laura Dern knows exactly how to make a statement — and her latest red carpet appearance in London proved it once again.
At the London premiere of her new film Is This Thing On?, the Big Little Lies star stepped out in a daring Elie Saab ensemble that put a sensual twist on classic elegance. Dern wore a plunging embroidered tulle peplum top paired with a matching floor-length skirt featuring a sculpted mermaid silhouette. Beneath the sheer detailing, a black lace bra was clearly visible — a bold styling choice that immediately sparked conversation.

She elevated the look with a pearl collar necklace and coordinating drop earrings, while her highlighted hair was styled in loose waves with full fringe. For makeup, Dern opted for defined black eyeliner, a soft rosy blush, and a warm terracotta lip, balancing drama with polish.
From Red Carpet to the Runway
While Dern is best known for her decades-long acting career, she has recently expanded her presence into the fashion world. Last fall, she made her official runway debut at Gabriela Hearst’s Spring 2026 show, modeling a gown adorned with three-dimensional florals and sleek sandals. The collection stood out for its use of deadstock fabrics, reinforcing Hearst’s commitment to sustainability.

The front row that night was just as star-studded, with appearances from Coco Rocha, Olivia Palermo, and Quinta Brunson.

Dern has recently been appearing alongside her daughter, Jaya Harper, stepping into the public eye together. In September, the pair arrived as a duo at Ralph Lauren’s Spring 2026 show, leaning into matching Western-inspired styling. Jaya opted for a fringed leather jacket layered over a white T-shirt, finished with black trousers and a bold belt, while Dern went for a romantic sheer dress with floral detailing, a ruffled neckline, and a softly pleated skirt.
The two were later photographed side by side at the Venice Film Festival, where they attended the premiere of Jay Kelly, directed by and starring Laura Dern. Featuring performances by George Clooney and Adam Sandler, the film was greeted with an enthusiastic reception and reportedly rewarded with a ten-minute standing ovation.

Whether on screen, on the runway, or on the red carpet, Laura Dern continues to blur the lines between classic Hollywood and modern boldness — and she does it entirely on her own terms.
