I’ve always had this dreamy idea of soaking in a warm bath under the open sky — like in those movie scenes where someone’s lounging in steaming water with a mountain view and a glass of wine in hand. It felt like pure fantasy. Definitely not something that could happen in my backyard.

But then I found out: if your partner knows their way around tools, even daydreams like that can come true.
One evening, we were sitting on our porch, enjoying the breeze, and I casually said,
“Wouldn’t it be amazing to sit in a hot bath outside, just staring up at the stars?”
He didn’t say much — just gave me this knowing smile.
A few days later, I noticed something odd in the yard: our old, worn-out bathtub (which we were planning to toss) had made a comeback. Around it were piles of stones, old pipes, and even a rusty metal grate.

I raised an eyebrow.
“What’s going on here?” I asked.
“You’ll see,” he replied, clearly excited.
And then he got to work like a man on a mission.
Within a week, I couldn’t believe my eyes — right there in our backyard was a DIY wood-heated outdoor tub. He had built a firepit underneath it, created a sturdy frame, and rigged up a system to heat the water.

Now, on chilly spring evenings, I get to sink into warm water while breathing in fresh air and listening to the gentle crackle of a fire. It’s pure bliss.
But here’s the bonus — it’s also surprisingly practical! When the garden still needs watering but the hose delivers icy cold water, we just heat up a tub and use that instead. Perfect for the early planting season.
That little corner of the yard has become my favorite place to unwind.
Have you ever seen one of these? Because once you do, you might just start dreaming about your own.
