…She stared at him, trying to recognize the boy in the man standing before her. And then—something in his eyes, something familiar, something she had seen years ago in that same yard…
“The little boy…” she whispered.
He smiled.
“I never forgot,” he said.
Elena’s hands trembled slightly.
“You fed me here,” he continued, glancing around the yard. “When I had nothing. When no one else even looked at me.”
Her eyes filled with tears.
“That day changed my life,” Daniel said quietly. “You told me to help others if I ever could. I did. And I never stopped looking for you.”
He reached into his coat and took out an envelope, placing it gently in her hands.
“This is for you,” he said. “So you never have to struggle again.”
Elena shook her head slightly.
“You don’t have to—”
“I want to,” he said firmly, but kindly. “Please.”
She looked at him, her eyes warm despite the tears.
“You became a good man,” she said softly.
Daniel smiled.
“Because you showed me how.”
The wind moved gently through the small yard, just as it had years ago. Nothing had changed—and yet everything had.
A simple act of kindness, given without expectation, had found its way back home.
