“No builders, no problem — she did it all by herself.” 💪🪚 Kelsey Banks turned a plain wall into a stunning custom headboard for just £150, proving you don’t need a big budget to create a designer look. See her brilliant DIY result in the article below 👇
Sometimes, determination and a bit of creativity can go further than a big budget. That’s exactly what happened when Kelsey Banks decided it was time to upgrade her plain bedroom, without hiring builders or breaking the bank.
Inspired by a photo she saw online, Kelsey came up with a plan to completely transform her room using basic materials she could handle herself. Instead of hiring professionals, she gathered a few supplies: MDF panels, strong adhesive, and paint. In the end, the entire project cost her only £150 — much less than what a renovation crew would’ve charged.
After measuring the space, she cut the MDF into slim slats, which she then carefully glued into a recessed section of the wall. Once the slats were in place, she gave everything a clean, even coat of paint, making the whole space look professionally done.
To finish the look, she used the leftover panel pieces to create a decorative design on a nearby wall, scattering them in a way that added texture and visual interest.
Now, the once-ordinary room features a custom slatted headboard that Kelsey built from scratch. It’s not just a design feature — it’s a reminder that a little effort and vision can make a huge difference.
