The owl couldn’t get out of ditch because it turned out that she ate too many mice.
Usually wild animals avoid people and communicate only when they need help. A similar incident happened recently in the UK. Suffolk Owl Conservation staff brought in an owl that was sitting in a ditch and unable to fly.
Experts suggested that the bird was injured or wet from the rain, but there were no visible injuries on it. The cause of all the troubles was discovered only after weighing, which showed that the owl had simply gained weight.
The staff of the reserve brought an owl that could not fly.
The reserve thought that the bird ran away from the owner, but it ate mainly wild food, so the assumption was not confirmed.
It turned out that she ate too many mice.
Chubby is on a diet. A few weeks later she returned to the wild. Later it turned out that not far from the place where the owl was found, there is a field in which many mice were born that year.
Apparently, the bird could not stand it and ate more than the norm, and then sat down and waited until it lost weight.
Owl was lucky that she fell into the caring hands of professionals.
