Rather than waiting around or hiring help, she decided to tackle the repairs herself. Armed with a thick brush, a thin brush, scissors, a utility knife, a plumb line, and a roller, she got straight to work.
Lacking a proper roller, she crafted one using stacked terry socks, a needle, and thread—an improvised yet effective solution.
She followed a few key principles to ensure a flawless finish:

To cut a perfectly straight strip, fold the wallpaper at the desired point, align the edges, and trim along the fold.
The first strip must be applied perfectly straight. Using a plumb line, she dropped a thread with a weight from the ceiling, marked the alignment points, and connected them into a straight guide.
When attaching wallpaper near the ceiling, she left a small excess, pressed along the edge with her fingernail to create a guide, peeled it back, and trimmed the excess for a precise fit—repeating the process at the bottom.
Instead of wrapping wallpaper around corners, she cut the paper precisely, leaving just a small overlap for a clean and professional look.
Electrical outlets and switches were temporarily removed to make the process easier.
She smoothed each strip from the center outward and ensured all doors and windows remained shut to prevent drafts.
