A generous soul made it their mission to make the poor dog as happy as possible.
Asher didn’t have long to live, and everyone knew it. But a generous soul has set herself the task of making the poor dog as happy as possible in his last days on Earth.
Animal control officers found Usher, who was about 14 years old, in a field in Orange County, California. The dog was alone, struggling to move, and covered in his own excrement, so he couldn’t help but lie still.
Officers then took Asher to a local animal shelter, where he was taken care of.
The next step was to give him up for adoption, even though the shelter team believed that the animal was dying and adoption was neither a good option nor realistic for him.
However, when Mrs. Smisek heard about Asher, she immediately wanted to help. Although he only had a few days left to live, she felt that the animal deserved the chance to experience family life.
When Asher arrived at Smisek’s house, she and her husband took care of him and gave him a bath.
Afraid of being bitten, Mrs. Smisek temporarily gag Asher while bathing. But she and her husband were more concerned about her condition, called spondylosis deformans.
“While we were bathing her, my husband Andy whispered to me that euthanasia is not bad, and it seems that it is so bad,” she wrote on Facebook.
Despite her doubts, Usher finally began to feel better, which further convinced Smisek that she had made the right choice.
