Aaron Taylor-Johnson chose a romantic way to celebrate his wife Sam’s 59th birthday — by taking her to one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
The 35-year-old actor shared a series of photos from their trip to Rome, giving fans a glimpse of the couple enjoying the Italian capital together. The images included sweet shots of the two posing side by side, along with snapshots of artworks they admired while exploring museums around the city.
In the caption, Aaron kept his message simple but heartfelt. “Me and you… in Rome. Happy birthday, baby,” he wrote.
Sam also shared moments from their getaway on her own social media. Among the photos was a playful image of Aaron mid-jump, capturing the relaxed and joyful mood of the trip.
Together, they have created a life centered around both family and creativity. The couple is raising their two daughters, Wylda, 15, and Romy, 14.
Their romance started under rather unexpected circumstances. Aaron and Sam met in 2009 during the filming of her first project as a director, Nowhere Boy, a movie that explores the early years of John Lennon. In the film, Aaron portrayed the young musician.
At the time their romance began, Aaron was 18 and Sam was 41 — an age difference that sparked plenty of discussion when their relationship became public. Just months later, the couple announced their engagement. Three years after that, they married and decided to share the same surname, Taylor-Johnson.
In June 2022, the couple marked an important moment in their relationship by reaffirming their commitment to each other and marking ten years of marriage with a ceremony to renew their vows.
Aaron, who recently starred in the film 28 Years Later, regularly honors Sam’s birthday with touching messages on social media. Last year, he shared several photos from their trips together, pairing them with a short but heartfelt caption.
“Happy birthday, lovely. I love spending every minute with you,” he wrote at the time.
This year, it seems Rome provided the perfect setting for another chapter of their long-running love story.
