The couple were happy from the idea that they would have two children.
For Lauren Perkins, the desire to be a mother was a dream. After a difficult year, during which her attempts to conceive a child were unsuccessful, she and her husband David went on vacation to Nicaragua. There they wanted to think about their following steps.
On vacation, they continued to look for a solution to the problem, asking for advice from friends. One of these friends, a priest, calmly replied: “Someone has big plans for you. I don’t know what it is, but it will be great!”
After the Nicaraguan holidays, the couple returned to Texas, and Lauren forgot about the words of the priest.
The couple decided on artificial fertilization. And Lauren became pregnant.
Already during the first examination, the hCG level was overstated, which is an indicator of multiple pregnancy.
The couple were happy from the idea that they would have two, and possibly three children. They dreamed about a child for so long that they considered it a reward.
According to the results of the ultrasound, the doctor suggested that there were 5 children. While Lauren was in shock, the doctor examined her again and said that he was mistaken. There were six children.
Stunned parents stared at the screen. Six children at once!
Doctors explained that with artificial fertilization, the likelihood that all children are born alive and healthy are incredibly small. Loren and David had to make a difficult decision: to leave all six or get rid of part of the fruits.
They thought for a long time, but in the end the couple decided to give a chance to all six children.
Doctors promised to do everything possible so that all the kids were safe. The whole team of the hospital did not spare funds and efforts to ensure a successful pregnancy and childbirth.
Kids were born earlier than 30 weeks.
On April 23, 2012, 35 employees gathered in the maternity ward. The entire medical staff, as well as the parents themselves were delighted with the upcoming birth.
But the birth passed quickly. After only 4 minutes, Levy, Ellison, Leah, Andrew, Benjamin and Caroline were born. The weight of each baby did not exceed one kilogram.
Mothers immediately showed their children and allowed them to touch their fingers.
For several weeks, the kids were in the hospital under the supervision of doctors. Gradually, their condition stabilized.
After 4 months, five of them were with their parents. Only Little Lea had to spend a few more weeks in the hospital, since her brain did not have time to develop in the womb.
Loren thanked the doctors for the happiness of becoming a mother.
