The problem only at first glance seems eccentric. Its solution contributes to the fight against water pollution and climate change.
Thus, the research was aimed at teaching animals to defecate in certain places.
The specialists proceeded from the principles of behavioral psychology. For this “training” they took calves.
Then the area expanded and the calves had to go to the toilet on their own. When they tried to defecate on the road, they were sprinkled with water and again encouraged to do the right thing.
Seven out of eight calves completed the task successfully.
This led to the conclusion that cattle are able to control the urination reflex.
Now scientists have to adapt the discovery to the real conditions of animal husbandry. It is necessary to exclude human participation in the process. First of all, it is necessary to develop a kind of urination sensor, in the formation of which hospitality will be manifested.
Fortunately, both of these goals are achievable.
