Nicolas Cage stepped back into the spotlight this week with wife Riko Shibata by his side — and fans immediately noticed how rarely the couple appears together in public anymore.
The pair attended the premiere of Cage’s upcoming television series “Spider-Noir,” marking their first joint public outing in more than a year.
Walking hand in hand along the red carpet, the couple embraced matching dark looks that perfectly matched the noir atmosphere of the new project.

Cage arrived in a classic black suit paired with a white shirt and deep navy tie, while 31-year-old Riko Shibata chose a black lace dress with striking white sleeves. She finished the elegant look with bold green nails that subtly stood out against the monochrome styling.
The appearance quickly sparked attention online, not only because of the couple’s coordinated outfits, but also because Cage and Shibata tend to keep their relationship unusually private despite the actor’s legendary Hollywood status.

The premiere celebrated Cage’s newest role in “Spider-Noir,” a darker and more mysterious expansion of the “Spider-Verse” universe.
Fans already know Cage as the voice behind Spider-Noir from the animated “Into the Spider-Verse” films, but this time the actor fully steps into the role physically. The series follows Ben Reilly, a private investigator navigating 1930s New York after abandoning his masked vigilante identity following a traumatic experience.

The production leans heavily into classic noir aesthetics and features a cast including Brendan Gleeson, Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez and Jack Huston.
While the new project generated major excitement, many people online focused just as much on Cage’s relationship with Shibata.
The actor, now 62, met the Japanese actress in early 2020, and their relationship moved quickly. Cage previously revealed that he proposed to her over FaceTime while they were apart.
“We were really happy together,” the actor once explained while discussing their whirlwind romance.

The couple officially married in 2021 during a ceremony at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas.
Shibata became Cage’s fifth wife following his previous marriages to Patricia Arquette, Lisa Marie Presley, Alice Kim and Erika Koike.
Despite his complicated romantic history, Cage later admitted he believes he finally got things right this time.
And judging by the way the pair stayed close together throughout the premiere, many fans now think the actor may actually mean it.
