Rescuers did their best to save a dog that had been trapped in a crevasse for 5 days

This dog is back with her family after spending 4 days at the bottom of a crevasse.

Rescuers from different specialized units teamed up to rescue a twelve-year-old dog.

An adult dog surfaced to find its owners trapped in a narrow stone hole for 5 long days, People reports.

Lisa, a 12-year-old animal, was accompanying her owner on a hike on Thursday, October 7, 2021, when she fell into a crevice.

Its owner and park staff tried to save Lisa, but due to the cavity’s small size, she was out of reach. Further attempts were made over the next few days, but to no avail. Then on Tuesday, October 12, 2 more brigades left for the scene to join the operation.

These are volunteers from Ulster County, but also and primarily professional lifeguards from New Jersey; this group intervenes especially during dangerous cave rescue operations.

The dog is alive and well, despite the fall, loneliness and hunger

A plumbing camera used to inspect pipes was inserted into the crack, allowing rescuers to see the dog. The next step was Jessica Van Ord, the tallest member of NJIRT, who squeezed through a narrow vertical gap leading to another horizontal, even narrower path to Lisa’s house. Thus, she was seen and she was not harmed.
