Salma Hayek Melts Hearts With First Glimpse of Her Grandson — and Reveals Her Special Nickname for Him

Salma Hayek is embracing an entirely new role in her family: grandmother. The actress has shared an adorable glimpse of her newborn grandson, and the tender moment quickly caught fans’ attention.

Last month brought a joyful new addition to the family when Hayek’s stepson, François Pinault Jr., became a father for the first time. He and his partner, Lara Cosima Henckel von Donnersmarck, welcomed a baby boy and chose the name François, carrying on a long-standing naming tradition that now connects four generations of the family.

In the sweet footage, Hayek cradles the newborn in her arms, gently rocks him and speaks affectionately to him in Spanish. Clearly delighted by the newest addition to the family, she can also be seen laughing as she bonds with the little boy.

Hayek celebrated the family’s newest arrival by noting how special it was to now have four living generations sharing the name François. However, the actress also revealed that she has already come up with a different way of addressing the little boy instead of using his official name.

Instead, Hayek revealed that she plans to call him “Panchito,” an affectionate nickname connected to her Mexican heritage. “He seems to love it, and I cannot love him more,” she added.

The choice is especially personal for Hayek, who has continued to maintain a strong connection to her Mexican roots while building her family life in Europe. Spanish has also remained an important part of her relationship with daughter Valentina Paloma.

The newborn François continues a family tradition that stretches across four generations. His father, François Pinault Jr., shares the name, as does his grandfather, François-Henri Pinault, the husband of Hayek. The tradition began with businessman François Pinault, the baby’s great-grandfather. With his arrival, four generations of the family bearing the name François are now alive at the same time.

The arrival also brought another family revelation. When Lara shared photos documenting their first weeks with the baby, her caption indicated that she and François Jr. had quietly married sometime after their engagement and before welcoming their son.

For Hayek, however, the latest family milestone appears to be all about little “Panchito” — and judging by their first shared moment, the new grandmother is already completely smitten.
