Sofia Vergara Celebrates Her Only Son’s 35th Birthday — and Their Throwback Photo Steals the Show

Sofia Vergara had an extra-special reason to celebrate as her only son, Manolo Gonzalez Vergara, turned 35. The actress marked the milestone with a collection of touching family photos — including an adorable throwback that showed just how close the mother and son have always been.

In the nostalgic picture, Sofia is lying on a bed while a much younger Manolo, dressed in pajamas, playfully rests on top of her. Both are cuddled together and smiling at the camera. Alongside the photo, Sofia wished her son a happy birthday and told him how much she loved him, while Manolo responded with heart emojis.

But the celebrations didn’t stop with memories from his childhood. Sofia also shared a more recent photo from Manolo’s birthday festivities. Wearing a blue pajama set and holding her black-and-white Chihuahua, Amore, she posed beside her son, who appeared relaxed in a black T-shirt that revealed several of his tattoos.

The biggest surprise was waiting directly in front of them: an enormous baklava birthday cake surrounded by additional pastries and sweet treats. The unconventional choice was particularly fitting for Manolo, who is a passionate foodie and has pursued several food-related ventures and collaborations.

That love of cooking apparently started early. Manolo has previously revealed that he learned to cook partly out of necessity because his mother has never enjoyed spending time in the kitchen. Sofia herself has recalled how her son watched cooking programs as a child, prepared his own breakfasts and lunches and even made dinner for her.

Despite their obvious closeness, Manolo has also joked about one habit of his famous mother that occasionally drives him crazy: her preference for sending lengthy voice messages instead of simple texts. According to him, it can become particularly inconvenient when he is sitting in a meeting and cannot immediately listen to what she wants.

From the cuddly childhood throwback to the enormous birthday dessert, Sofia’s posts offered a rare and affectionate glimpse into her relationship with her now 35-year-old son — and proved that some mother-son traditions clearly haven’t changed.
