Tammy Slaton, one of the stars of 1000-lb Sisters, is celebrating an incredible milestone in her weight loss journey — shedding a total of 500 pounds.
She recently posted a TikTok video on August 17, set to the inspiring song “Rise Up” by Andra Day. In the clip, Tammy and six other women—who’ve also lost a lot of weight—are shown walking proudly together. As each woman appears, their weight loss achievements are highlighted. Altogether, they’ve lost over 2,000 pounds through mutual encouragement and friendship.
“These women are truly incredible, and I’m lucky to have them in my life,” Tammy, now 38, wrote under the video. “I’m so proud of all of you. You’re beautiful inside and out. Never forget that.”
Tammy has been sharing her health struggles and progress with viewers since the show debuted in early 2020. After undergoing weight loss surgery in July 2022 and spending over a year in a recovery facility, she continues to open up about her transformation both on TV and online. By the end of 2023, she had lost around 48 more pounds.
Along with the physical changes, Tammy has spoken about how much her mental health has improved.
“Before going to rehab, I was angry, miserable, and depressed,” she admitted in a TikTok post from February. “But I’ve grown so much. I treat my loved ones better, and my whole outlook has changed. I smile more now.”
Tammy has also started enjoying life in ways she couldn’t before.
“I recently went to Disney World and even went up in a hot air balloon,” she shared. “I used to hate life — every part of it. But now, I actually love living.”
In April, she shared a poolside photo with her friend, psychic Haley Michelle. Fans were deeply moved by her openness and progress. One person commented, “Wow, what an incredible change. I’m so happy for you—I might’ve shed a tear.”
Tammy’s weight loss story has inspired viewers since 1000-lb Sisters first aired. After her surgery in 2022, people kept up with her journey through social media and the show. By December 2023, she weighed about 285 pounds — that’s a total loss of 440 pounds.
She continued sharing updates: in June, Tammy posted a photo of herself in a floral dress and another group picture with her brother Chris Combs and content creator Chelcie Lynn.
Sadly, in July, Tammy lost her husband, Caleb Willingham. “Rest in peace, sweet angel,” she wrote on Instagram, posting memories of their time together. “You showed me what real love and joy feel like.”
In August, she posted some bathroom selfies. Then in October, she proudly shared a selfie wearing jeans — another milestone moment.
By January 2024, Tammy posted a new video on TikTok. And in April, after uploading more photos, her surgeon Dr. Eric Smith cheered her on with a simple message: “You look great!”
