All you have to do is toss a blanket or two on the bed, prepare a cup of hot chocolate, and relax with a book, tablet, or your favorite TV show.

If you have a dog in your life, so be it. Your puppy companion will be joyful to give you a big cuddle.

For homeless or otherwise stray dogs, winter nights are cozier than anything else. These unfortunate dogs don’t have a secure, warm location to sleep, let alone an amiable human by their side.

Brazil is not well known for its winters, but in some parts of the country the season brings frosty nights. An instance is the city of Curitiba.

There, the bus station personnel spotted three unhoused dogs shivering outside and made a decision that they deserved a warm as well as a comfortable place to sleep. Leaving the set of rules behind, the dogs were invited inside.

Max, Pitoko, and Zoyinho were definitely grateful for the food, water, and warmth. But then their human fellows came up with a great idea. From old tires and coverings, they made makeshift dog beds for each of them.

The dogs became regulars, coming back from the cold every night. You might think they would look out of place at a bus stop, but they possibly look at home.

The regional politician welcomed the example of the bus station employees. “Congratulations to the terminal staff.”

Everyone understands that these angels exist and have the right to exist. Many companies in Curitiba can follow suit by accepting pets. It’s not perfect, of course, but at least there are controllers.
