The Triplets’ Journey: From Separation to Reunion and Uncovering an Unethical Experiment

Three guys suddenly discovered that they were actually triplets.🧐

In 1980, Robert Shafran arrived at a new college and encountered strange behavior from those around him, who called him by different names and acted as if they already were familiar.

Robert didn’t know the truth, they were separated from siblings many years ago and they were taking part in an experiment.

The students introduced Robert to his twin, Edward Galan, and they were so much like each other. Both had grown up in different foster families and know nothing about each other’s existence.
Another college student named David Kelman saw a news story about the reunited twins and realized that Robert and Edward looked just like him.
The three brothers discovered after meeting that their adoptive parents do not know their siblings. Each twin grew up in a separate family, living at a long distance.
Intrigued by their separation, the adoptive parents began an investigation and discovered the truth behind the unusual experience they had unknowingly participated in.

It turns out that famous child psychologist Peter Neubauer studied how the environment affects personality development. He intentionally placed the twins in different families to observe which traits were inherited and which they got during living in that families.
David was placed in a working-class family, Edward in a middle-income family, and Robert was lucky enough to be adopted by a businessman.

Neubauer’s research continued for a decade, but the trio’s reunion brought them unexpected fame and financial opportunity. They even starred in movies and had success.
In the end, Neubauer’s experiment was ultimately considered unethical, and the full results of the study remain confidential to this day.
