This is great: an old man designed an unusual kayak for himself and his dogs to travel with them

Here is how to take pleasure in the landscapes with your pets on the water.

When David Benson and his partner added a second golden retriever, he realized he needed to be able to haul both dogs in his kayak when they went on trips with him. The only issue currently is sitting in the kayak for 3 guests.

David claims that his dogs constantly want to travel with him, be it land, water or air! Because of this, he made the decision to set up the kayak to suit traveling with pet dogs.

David’s first dog, Susie, fits in one of the luggage compartments, but it’s cramped.

So when they got their second gold one, Ginger, David purchased another Coho kayak, and also this time he converted two of the luggage compartments to be dog-friendly.

Pygmy wooden kayaks were available in a build kit, so David just needs a little tweaking. He shortened the luggage compartments to be smaller and narrower than the original sketch, but made sure they were the best fit for pet dogs. David also made pads for the dog seats to keep them dry and also keep water out of the case.

While they don’t have the same legroom as humans, this isn’t a problem for pet dogs!

David claimed that the dogs are very accommodating and always waiting to be guided to and from the kayak. Since everyone can comfortably kayak, the whole family has sailed many miles with each other and also enjoy water travel.

What a wonderful thing for your dogs! I love it when Mom and Dad’s animals try to be pets in their activities.
