88-year-old model Carmen Dell’Orefice shared her archival photos and showed what she looked like in her youth
Carmen has been working since the age of 14 and is popular since now as a model.
Carmen Dell’Orefice, a model who has been working since the age of 14. Her first shooting was a photo shoot for Vogue magazine.
The parents of the model were poor, creative people. Mom was a ballerina, and dad was a violinist. Parents had many conflicts and divorced.
Mom Carmen was very strict. She gave her daughter to ballet and sometimes called her an ugly duckling, too tall or thin. The girl herself was very complex because of her appearance.
The girl suffered rheumatism, because of which she could not continue ballet classes. At the age of 14, she went into the modeling business, where everything worked out for her.
The girl herself did not like the photo on the cover of Vogue. It seemed to her that she looked like a boy there, so when she saw her for the first time, our heroine almost cried.
At the beginning of her career, she did not earn much, but worked round knocks.
In 1963, it happened that Carmen called her agent and said that she was ending her career, to which the agent laughed, answering that – you couldn’t live without it.
And so it happened, in 1978, when her child had already grown up, and her first marriage broke up, our heroine returned to the modeling business.
Now gray hair is her feature. Carmen even wrote a book: “To be beautiful”, where she painted her secrets for caring for her appearance and believing in herself.
She breaks stereotypes that 30 years old is some kind of barrier for a model.
