This Australian farmer was collecting eggs from his hens when a huge one caught his attention! 🥚🐔 It was about three times the size of a regular egg weighing 1️⃣7️⃣6️⃣ grams, can you imagine? 😲🫢 But the most interesting part began when he cracked it and saw something UNUSUAL inside! 🧐🤫 I will show the photos in this article! 👇
An Australian farmer got quite a surprise while collecting eggs from his hens one morning.
One of his hens had laid an egg that was enormous — about three times the size of a regular egg, weighing a staggering 176 grams (6.2 ounces).
Scott Stockman, the farm’s owner, was so shocked by the discovery that he shared a photo of it, which quickly caught the attention of many. When placed next to an average-sized egg, the giant egg looked completely out of place. But the real mystery revealed itself when they cracked it open.

“One of our hens really outdid herself. Look at this massive egg! The average egg weighs around 58 grams, and this one tips the scale at 176 grams!”
The Shocking Discovery Inside the Giant Egg
To their astonishment, inside the enormous egg was another fully-formed egg.
“It’s unbelievable to see two eggs perfectly shaped, one nested inside the other,” said Scott, still amazed by the bizarre find.

Experts were equally stunned by the discovery. Associate Professor Rafael Freire from Charles Sturt University’s School of Veterinary Sciences admitted he had never encountered anything like it before.
Freire explained that the first egg was likely formed but not laid, and then the hen experienced a new ovulatory cycle the following day. Instead of laying the egg, the hen inexplicably formed a shell around both eggs simultaneously.
A Safe, but Unlikely Find
Experts confirmed that such an egg would be perfectly safe to eat, but Scott admitted that due to the sheer volume of eggs his farm collects — around 50,000 each day — this oddity would not make it to the table.

It’s certainly a rare and curious phenomenon, but one that won’t be making it to the farm’s breakfast menu anytime soon!
