Catherine Zeta-Jones has offered fans a rare glimpse into her private life with Michael Douglas. The Hollywood couple marked their shared birthday with emotional messages to one another — and Zeta-Jones chose a particularly intimate photo for the occasion.
The two stars both celebrate their birthdays on September 25. Zeta-Jones, 57, shared a romantic image showing herself and her 82-year-old husband embracing in the sea as they share a passionate kiss.
Alongside the photo, the actress wished Douglas a happy birthday and described how special it remains to share the same birthday with her husband. She ended the affectionate message simply by telling him that she loves him.
Douglas responded with a romantic tribute of his own. Sharing a red-carpet photo of the couple, he recalled the first time he saw Zeta-Jones on screen and said he had never experienced anything quite like it. For him, there was something about her that went far beyond her beauty, and he became convinced she was the woman for him.
Their relationship has now lasted for more than a quarter of a century. Douglas and Zeta-Jones married at New York’s Plaza Hotel on November 18, 2000, despite early skepticism surrounding their 25-year age difference.

Their marriage has also survived difficult periods. Douglas faced a cancer diagnosis in 2010, while Zeta-Jones later sought treatment for bipolar disorder. In 2013, the couple temporarily separated, but they eventually reconciled and continued their marriage.

Douglas has previously revealed that he first noticed his future wife while watching “The Mask of Zorro.” After meeting her in person at the Deauville Film Festival, he famously told her that he intended to become the father of her children — a bold remark he later feared had ruined his chances.
Instead, they remained together and eventually built a family. Their son Dylan was born in August 2000, shortly before their wedding, while daughter Carys arrived in 2003. More than two decades later, their latest birthday posts show that the Hollywood couple still isn’t shy about displaying their affection.
