Most of you might have watched «Friends», an American comedy series, where she excellently portrayed Rachel. However, only few have any idea about her past life, path to stardom and childhood fraught with challenges and hardship. She was raised by her mother.

The mother and daughter had a rather tense and strained relationship. Dow didn’t miss any chance to call her «ugly», mention that she had a big nose and be critical about her appearance. She used to point at her «flaws» making her develop complexes and insecurities.

All this hit the future star just like a sharp knife, led to communication difficulties and, later in life, years of therapy.

Over the years she learnt how to process her traumas and started to «fix» her low self-esteem. The «Friends» star mentions that she doesn’t blame her mother since what she did that hurt her didn’t seem anything serious for her and she had no idea that she would «recover» from her careless words only with the help of therapy.

«Her methods might have been flawed, but I understand now that my mother wanted what was best for me».

She did a nose job when she was already grown up which actually didn’t contribute to building self-confidence.
