Kelly Clarkson has surprised fans with one of her biggest beauty changes in years. The 44-year-old singer has said goodbye to her familiar longer locks and debuted a chic chin-length bob — one of the shortest hairstyles she has worn in recent memory.
Clarkson unveiled the fresh cut during a busy day of television appearances on September 21, 2026. She first showed off the transformation on “Today” before appearing later that evening on “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” giving fans two very different versions of her new look.
For her morning appearance, Kelly styled the bob with plenty of texture, curls and a dramatic side part. Hours later, she softened the hairstyle with looser waves, proving that the much shorter cut can easily shift from playful and voluminous to polished and relaxed.
And this time, there was no styling illusion involved. Clarkson confirmed that she had genuinely taken the plunge, telling Seth Meyers that she had recently chopped off her hair and admitting that she enjoys wearing it short. Fans may remember seeing her with what appeared to be a bob on “The Voice” years earlier, but that transformation had actually been created by hairstylist Robert Ramos, who cleverly concealed much of her longer hair.
The new haircut had already quietly made its public debut before her September 21 television appearances. On September 11, Clarkson performed at a private event at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta wearing her short, tousled bob alongside red pants and a sparkling Blondie T-shirt.

Clarkson explained that living in New York without the schedule of a daily daytime show still feels unusual. She has instead been able to devote more time to daughter River Rose and son Remington Alexander, whom she shares with her late ex-husband Brandon Blackstock. School drop-offs, pickups and simply having more time together have now become a bigger part of her everyday routine.
Kelly described the change as being “really, really good for us,” suggesting that the dramatic haircut isn’t the only thing that feels different these days. With a new schedule, more family time and her shortest hairstyle in years, the singer appears to be stepping into her next chapter with an entirely fresh look.
