Jamie Lee Curtis Shares Touching Private Photo of Mom Janet Leigh 22 Years Later

Jamie Lee Curtis is remembering her legendary mother, Janet Leigh, with a deeply personal tribute. Twenty-two years after the “Psycho” star’s death, the 67-year-old actress shared a private black-and-white photograph while opening up about the love and longing that remain decades later.

Janet Leigh died on October 3, 2004, at the age of 77. To mark the anniversary, Jamie posted a nostalgic image showing her mother smiling in a bathtub and playfully surrounded by bubbles. “That day is long gone,” Jamie wrote, before making it clear that her feelings have never disappeared. She added that she still “loves and misses” her mother.

Jamie was born in 1958 as the second daughter of Janet Leigh and Hollywood actor Tony Curtis, who died in 2010. Her famous parents appeared together in five movies during their careers, but Janet would soon secure a place in cinema history entirely of her own.

Just two years after Jamie’s birth, Janet played Marion Crane in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 classic “Psycho.” The infamous shower scene made her internationally recognizable and transformed the actress, who had previously often been cast as innocent young women, into one of the most unforgettable faces in horror history.

Remarkably, her daughter would eventually build her own horror legacy. Jamie’s breakthrough came in 1978 when she starred as Laurie Strode in “Halloween,” battling serial killer Michael Myers and earning the enduring title of Hollywood “Scream Queen.” Mother and daughter later appeared together in John Carpenter’s “The Fog” in 1980, before reuniting onscreen again when Janet made a guest appearance alongside Jamie in 1998’s “Halloween H20.”

Jamie has continued finding ways to honor her mother long after Janet’s passing. At the 2021 premiere of “Halloween Kills,” she paid tribute by wearing a blue dress inspired by her mother’s appearance in “Psycho,” completing the transformation with a blond wig. She also shared a remembrance on the anniversary of Janet’s death last year.

The latest tribute comes during an especially emotional year for Jamie. Her older sister, Kelly Lee Curtis, died on May 30, 2026, at the age of 69. Kelly also worked as an actress, and after her passing, Jamie described her sister as her “first friend and lifelong confidante.”
