John Goodman made a rare red-carpet appearance alongside his wife, Anna Beth, in Los Angeles — but it wasn’t his new movie or even his elegant outfit that had everyone talking.
The 74-year-old actor attended an event for his new film “Digger” wearing a dark navy suit, striped shirt and tie. Anna Beth, 57, joined him for the occasion, but attention quickly turned to Goodman’s dramatically changed appearance.
The Hollywood veteran has previously revealed that he lost around 90 kilograms after once weighing approximately 180 kilograms at his heaviest. His transformation has taken years, and Goodman has been open about the fact that changing his lifestyle was anything but easy.

In a 2016 interview, the actor admitted that he had repeatedly tried to lose weight in the past, only to return to his old habits. He described periods when he would spend months losing a significant amount of weight before rewarding himself and eventually gaining it back.

Eventually, Goodman realized he needed a more lasting change. He said he had grown tired of what he saw in the mirror and recognized that his habits were becoming dangerous. He has also spoken openly about struggling with overeating and alcohol earlier in his life.
Goodman’s career stretches back more than four decades. One of his earliest screen appearances came in 1983, but his major breakthrough arrived when he landed the role of family patriarch Dan Conner on the hit sitcom “Roseanne.”

That role turned him into a household name and opened the door to a long and varied career in film and television. Goodman has also become familiar to younger audiences through his voice work, most famously as the lovable monster Sulley in Pixar’s 2001 animated hit “Monsters, Inc.”
Over the years, his performances have earned widespread recognition, including a Golden Globe in 1993. Yet his latest appearance has reminded fans of another remarkable chapter in his life — the enormous personal transformation he achieved away from the cameras.
