Shortly after her husband’s passing, she clearly noticed significant changes in appearance. Given the lack of medical breakthroughs at that time, nothing could be done about her condition which was worsening day by day. This had an impact on not only her looks, but also her health leading to heart disease, kidney issues and sleep problems.
In 1920 her name appeared in a London newspaper as «the ugliest woman». She started to perform in numerous sideshows and carnivals becoming a target for mockery and entertainment. Believe it or not, she earned 20 000 euros in just two years of performing in New York.
The disease eventually took over her and she left the world at the age of 59.
