This chest of drawers once stood in my parents’ house — reliable, sturdy, but over time it lost its place in the updated interior. When the renovation began, it became clear that it looked out of place in the new modern interior.
It was a shame to throw it away. It had a history behind it — memories, conversations, an entire era. So we decided not to part with it, but to give it a second life.

The work began with the simplest steps — sanding, priming and painting. We chose a calm shade that harmonised with the new furniture and carefully applied several coats. The golden elements had to be cleaned by hand, but they were the ones that gave the renovated chest of drawers its unique charm.

When everything was ready, the furniture was unrecognisable. The chest of drawers retained its character from the past, but now looked modern and elegant.

My parents were delighted. They couldn’t believe that a familiar object from their youth had been transformed into a stylish decoration for the room. This makeover reminded me that sometimes old things need just a little attention to shine again and take their place in the home.
