When Marik bought the abandoned house, most people thought he had completely lost his mind.
The building was falling apart. Cracked walls, bare floors, no proper bathroom and not even basic sewage. It barely looked livable for an adult — let alone for a small child.
But Marik was desperate to give his daughter a better life.
The man, who lived in a small village in Poland, had already endured years of personal tragedy before making the risky decision to buy the wrecked property. His marriage collapsed because of his wife’s drug addiction, and after separating, he took his daughter and moved into his mother’s home.
Only a few months later, his mother passed away, leaving Marik alone to raise his daughter. Soon after, his brothers moved into the house — but instead of helping, they spent their days drinking heavily and creating an environment Marik no longer wanted his child growing up in.
That was the moment he decided to escape.
With almost no money and no government support, Marik purchased the broken-down house, believing he could slowly rebuild it into a real home for his daughter. But once the renovation began, he realized the situation was even worse than he imagined.
The work seemed endless.
For three years, the single father spent nearly every spare moment trying to repair the house himself using only the modest salary from his regular job. Progress came painfully slowly, and after years of effort, he had managed to fully finish only one room.
Still, he refused to give up.
Even Marik’s daughter joined him during repairs, helping her father however she could while dreaming of the day they could finally live somewhere safe and peaceful together.
Then something unexpected changed everything.
A television renovation program learned about the family’s story and offered them the chance of a lifetime — a complete home makeover.
While construction teams worked on transforming the ruined house, Marik and his daughter temporarily stayed in a hotel. For the first time in years, they were able to rest without worrying about broken walls, cold rooms or constant stress.
The show also gave them experiences they never could have afforded themselves, including horseback riding and even a helicopter ride that left both father and daughter overwhelmed with happiness.
Meanwhile, back at the house, builders and volunteers worked nonstop.
Many of Marik’s friends also joined the renovation after hearing his story. People were deeply moved by the father’s determination and wanted to help him finally achieve the life he had been fighting for.
Then came the moment nobody could believe.
After only five days of intensive renovation work, the ruined building was completely transformed.
The dark, cracked rooms became bright, modern and warm living spaces decorated in soft colors that made the small home feel open and welcoming. The broken walls disappeared. The floors were rebuilt. Every room suddenly looked like part of a completely different house.
The biggest surprise was the daughter’s bedroom.
The renovation team created a cheerful and colorful space filled with new furniture and decorations, giving the little girl a proper room she could finally feel proud of.
The family also received a large television, a new sofa, wardrobes, chairs and other furniture they could never have purchased on their own.
When Marik finally saw the finished result, he completely broke down emotionally.
The exhausted father reportedly cried uncontrollably while thanking everyone who helped him and said he could barely believe such kindness still existed.
For years, people laughed at him for buying a hopeless house.
Now, many of those same people can only stare in disbelief at what he managed to build for his daughter.
