Elvis Presley, an experienced singer with a beautiful voice, also had impeccable taste and design.
In 1962, Elvis received his plane, a Lockheed Jetstar model, with mahogany paneling, a beautiful velvet sofa and carpeting. His plane sat idle for more than three decades until he died in 1977.
The plane recently sold for $260,000 to a bidder who turned out to be an Elvis enthusiast. This unique aircraft has become a symbol of the singer’s heritage and his ideal sense of style.
Elvis and his father Vernon Presley spared no expense on the impressive trip. It is clear that even in the sky Elvis showed his attention to the designerâs details.
Although the exterior of the aircraft has taken on a light red tint, it remains in good condition despite the passage of time.
The interior walls are paneled in oak and the seats are upholstered in crimson velvet. We immediately imagine the king of rock lying on this luxurious sofa. The seating area is comfortable so passengers can spread their legs during the ride.
The plane has a small kitchen that has everything you need for cooking.
The airplane toilet is luxurious but could have used more elegant elements. Still, it looks great compared to the small bathrooms on board airplanes.
The plane was sold Jan. 8 at the Mecum Kissimmee Collector Car Auction with the winning bid of $260,000. The new owner decided to place his bids anonymously over the phone.
What do you think of this unique aircraft?
