Photo of a professor of Hebrew University of Jerusalem became viral.
Sydney Engelberg from Jewish University in Jerusalem, apparently, can whisper in the ear to infants.
A photograph of a professor at Hebrew University of Jerusalem, holding a child in his arms during classes, became a viral around the world, and the origin of this photograph is even more touching.
According to the daughter of Engelberg, her father (originally from South Africa and a teacher with 45 years of experience) teaches at the master’s level, and therefore he has many older students.
«There are many young single mothers, often with their children, and my father urges them to bring them to class, and not to separate them from him», she explains.
The mother of the crying baby was about to leave the room when Engelberg decided to take the child in his arms, calm, and then «continue his course, as if nothing had happened».
He just took the baby in his arms, and continued his course.
Many students bring their children to classes to her father, a 67-year-old psychologist, and some even feed on the spot.
However, according to his daughter, Engelberg does not understand why the photograph was such a success on the network, because for him «all this is completely natural».
«For my father, education is not only the study of theoretical facts in the classroom», she says, «but the study of values».
«And this is a very important message that my father would like to convey to the rest of the world».
