Walking along a river in Botswana, Charles Stalls noticed that an elephant with a calf was approaching the river to get drunk. He decided to take a picture of them and witnessed the most tender gesture that a mother can make to her baby.

Because of the rough terrain, the baby elephant rolled over several times. Fortunately, his mother was always there to help him. Mothers are called to help and protect their children. That’s what they do.

“It was a special second”, Stalls said.
