Elephants are known for their protective behavior towards babies, as are many other animals. The mother always takes care of the calf when it starts to walk.
In this breathtaking photo series, a wildlife photographer captures the stunning scene of an elephant feeding her newborn calf in South Africa.
Walking along a river in Botswana, Charles Stalls noticed that an elephant with a calf was approaching the river to get drunk. He decided to take a picture of them and witnessed the most tender gesture that a mother can make to her baby.
Because of the rough terrain, the baby elephant rolled over several times. Fortunately, his mother was always there to help him. Mothers are called to help and protect their children. That’s what they do.
This warm scene touched even the photographer who was photographing elephant families.
“It was a special second”, Stalls said.
