«The ugliest woman in history!» Here is everything to know about the incredible life story of Mary Ann Bevan

“They called her ‘the ugliest’ — but knew nothing about her pain.” 😢💔 Mocked for her looks, she had no choice but to perform in circuses just to feed her kids. Her rare illness and heartbreaking photo are in the article below 👇

Born in Plaistow, East London, M. A. Bevan is known as one of the most memorable figures in the 19th century entertainment industry. An ordinary housewife and mother’s life changed to the roots after she was diagnosed with acromegaly.

It was shortly after her husband’s passing that the first signs of a disease started to show up. As her appearance underwent major changes, it gradually became ever harder for her to find a job and make the ends meet.

People mocked and laughed at her and soon she «earned» the title «the ugliest woman in the world». She could do nothing but start to perform in circles which, surprisingly, brought much money. This let her provide a better future for her children.

Bevan passed away at 59 in 1933.  Her incredible story will never get old and reflects the woman’s strength, resilience and the ability to never give up.
