In his early years, the family moved to Hong Kong and then had no choice but to return to England because of his father’s health issues. Already at the age of 10, he performed in a Shakespeare play, regardless of the fact that, surprisingly, his family didn’t have a theatrical background.

He received education in Birmingham University where he studied drama. This led him to play his first role in the musical «Hair» despite the lack of previous acting experience. It was his role in «The Rocky Horror Show» that led him to fame and stardom.
