Wonderful change: the couple rebuilt an old country house into a chic two-story cottage

he couple decided to buy an old house and rebuild it with their own hands.

The couple wanted to live closer to nature, but they did not have extra money for a big house. Then they decided to buy an old house with a good plot and rebuild it with their own hands. They looked at the house by the river. This building is already 100 years old, but the foundation and walls were strong.

It all started in 2015. Nikolai Redyoga and his wife Vita arrived, examined the house and fell in love with the plot and decided on an adventure.

The house was small, inside there were small windows, cramped rooms, a stove and a dilapidated roof.

The couple set about remodeling the house on their own. They created a project and started to break down the house. The first task was to increase the living area of the house. So they decided to build an additional two-story extension with a small terrace.

Nikolai hired several auxiliary workers and began construction. To finish the old part of the house and build additional space, they used foam blocks.

They made a wooden ceiling and erected the second floor.

The roof of the old part of the house was demolished and new floors were made, it became flat and served as the basis for the terrace. To make the house lighter, part of the wall was cut out and a panoramic window was made. Some windows in the old part of the house were also enlarged.

The old stove was not broken, but rebuilt into a fireplace with brickwork.

Outside, the house was also changed, it was sheathed with wood and partially painted black. It turned out stylish and bright.

Also, the couple did not forget to equip the site. They even planted beds and decided to build a greenhouse. It took them 3 years to do everything. The house is not finished yet, finishing is required in several rooms, but it is already possible to live comfortably.

The house was built in the loft style and the interior decoration fully reflects this style. A leather sofa, a black wall with a fireplace, skins and a wooden table – everything is stylish and beautiful.

The kitchen also supports the overall style of the house – lots of natural materials, concrete walls and a panoramic window. Everything is beautiful and functional.
