At first, everyone in the neighborhood thought the man had completely lost his mind.
One morning, he suddenly appeared in his backyard with a gigantic concrete ring — the kind people usually associate with sewer systems or underground tanks. Then, just to make things even stranger, he stacked a second ring on top of it.
That’s when the rumors started.
Neighbors slowed down while walking past his property, trying to figure out what exactly he was building. Some joked he was secretly constructing a bunker. Others wondered if it was some kind of underground storage system or even a missile silo.
But nothing about the project seemed to make sense.

There were no visible pipes, no plumbing connections and no signs that it was linked to the sewage system. Day after day, the mystery only grew bigger.
The man, a hardworking father of three who also does masonry work on the side, ignored the confusion around him and quietly kept building.
First, he carefully dug out the area by hand so he would not ruin the lawn. Then came the gravel, metal mesh and insulation panels before he finally poured a massive concrete base underneath the strange structure.
People continued staring over the fence, still unable to understand what they were looking at.

Then one day, everything suddenly became clear.
The man started tiling the inside.
Little by little, the bizarre concrete rings transformed into something nobody expected — a surprisingly stylish mini swimming pool built almost entirely from recycled and low-cost materials.
The finished pool measured around 2.2 meters across and 1.5 meters deep. Strong, simple and nearly indestructible, it quickly became the centerpiece of the backyard.

What shocked people even more was the price.
According to the owner, the entire project — including transportation, concrete rings, lifting equipment and mosaic tiles rescued from a construction site — cost around 140,000 Hungarian forints, an amount many people online described as unbelievably cheap for a backyard pool.
Even after going through winter weather, the structure reportedly never cracked or developed serious maintenance issues.
During the summer, the family keeps the water clean using chlorine and an old filtration system. At one point, the family dog even damaged the pump while swimming with the children, but the owner said cleaning and repairs only took minutes.
Now the once-ridiculed backyard project has become something neighbors openly admire.

The internet quickly fell in love with the unusual idea too. While some people still called the project “completely insane,” many others praised the creativity, practicality and surprisingly beautiful final result.
And perhaps the funniest part of all is that the same people who originally laughed at the giant concrete rings are now the ones secretly wishing they had built something similar in their own gardens.
