Her role in the Italian cinema is truly irreplaceable. Among her best-remembered movies are «The Black Orchid», «The Fall of the Roman Empire» and «A Special Day» which established her as one of the most legendary film stars of the generation.

Despite her acting career and incredible accomplishments, her personal life wasn’t as smooth as it might seem. Being married to Carlo Ponti, her biggest love ever, she wasn’t completely happy as one important thing was missing in her life.

She admitted loving children with all her heart. The Italian beauty even befriended with the kids of her co-stars and stayed in touch with them for long. She had a desire to become a mother and embrace parenthood.

It was on the set of «Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow» that she first felt the symptoms of pregnancy. Interestingly enough, she was portraying a mom of 7 at that time. It really turned out that she was expecting a baby. After telling her husband the big news, he advised her not to travel by car in order to avoid shaking.

However, she had to film a scene in a car and soon experienced a miscarriage. The next time she got pregnant was in 4 years on the set of «More Than a Miracle». She, however, miscarried again after which received the diagnosis that she would never become a mother because of lack of estrogen produced.

Miraculously, she became a mother of a son in 1973 and her happiness didn’t acknowledge any limits. All this time she kept working as an actress staying dedicated to the craft. Later, she had another son named Edoardo.
